Check-ups and Cleanings

Prevention, education, and early detection play a key roll in a healthy smile. We encourage six month check-ups and x-rays to find and treat problems early, before they become bigger and more expensive to fix.

Restorative

We use multiple modalities for restoring and preventing cavities in teeth, to best suit the patient’s needs. We offer sealants, white fillings, stainless steel crowns (mercury free, similar to what you cook food on), and white esthetic crowns in the smile zone. A beautiful, healthy smile is the #1 goal.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide “laughing gas” is a very safe and effective tool for helping calm anxious patients. We utilize nitrous oxide daily to help our patients have better appointments. Nitrous oxide does not work for every patient, especially those that are very young or not able to breathe through their nose well.

Behavior Management

Some patients may have anxiety or behavior issues that make dental work difficult. Dr. Casey has extensive behavior management experience to help ease these patient’s fears. With the use of nitrous oxide sedation, along with TVs on ceiling, most patients are able to tolerate treatment very well!

General Anesthesia

Some children are just too young, have too many cavities, or are not able to cooperate well enough to complete the needed dental work safely. For these patients, we bring a specialized anesthesiologist into our clinic with a sedation team to complete treatment under general anesthesia. This type of anesthesia is very similar to getting tubes in ears, or tonsils removed, and is a wonderful option to avoid creating a lifetime of dental anxiety for your child. See our “General Anesthesia” tab under services.

Tongue-Tie Therapy

Tongue tie therapy is a new and evolving field of study in the dental research. Dr. Casey has completed many tongue tie releases “frenectomies” over his career, and can examine your infant or child to determine if a tongue tie is present that requires intervention. This procedure is often done in-office without sedation.

Thumb or Pacifier Habit Correction

Thumb or pacifier habits can be tough to break, but can cause significant bite problems to the developing teeth. If at-home remedies have failed, Dr. Casey is able to fabricate reminder appliances that can help the patient kick the habit.

Special Needs Dentistry

Special needs patients hold a special place in Dr. Casey’s heart. We are able to accommodate extra considerations for patient with special health care needs. These include using non-stimulating environments, educating/desensitization appointments, behavior management, and sedation options for helping give these patients the smile they deserve.

Space Maintenance

A pediatric dentist does not typically place braces, however they are trained to recognize early bite and eruption problems that require intervention. Early loss of baby teeth can cause substantial eruption problems and impacted teeth. Dr. Casey is able to fabricate various “space maintainers” that brace the open space and allow for permanent teeth to erupt correctly.
